Meet: Larry Linton

Who he is:
Larry Linton has 41 years experience in the aerospace industry, with 25 year in executive management roles. Larry earned his BS in Physics and Applied Math from Florida Atlantic University. He was the founder and first Executive Director of Litton Industries' Space Systems Operation (now known as Northrop Grumman Technical Services' STS operation). Larry was the first chairman of the National Concurrent Engineering Task Force and was the author/editor of First Principles of Concurrent Engineering. He served the National Science Foundation as an expert in the field of Reliability Physics, and lectured on "Reliability of High Density, Surface Mount Technology" at the University of Maryland's Center for Advanced Life Cycle Engineering (CALCE). Larry was appointed by the CEO of Litton Industries as the corporate representative to the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA). He served on the Board of Directors for the Society for Computer-Aided-Engineering- Design Automation and the Board of Director's for the Maryland Space Business Roundtable and was a Guest Editor for "High Performance" magazine. At Northrop Grumman, Larry has served as NGTS-STS Chief Engineer, Sr. Director of Programs, Sr. Director of Business Development, and Program Manager for numerous programs, including the highly acclaimed LCROSS Avionics & Flight Software Program.

Job Description:
Larry has been an active member of the LCROSS management team through every phase of the program, especially during the critical pre-contract award phase. His main contribution has been his successful management of the LCROSS Avionics and Flight Software efforts, as well as the delivery of the LCROSS spacecraft simulator and LCROSS Dynamic Simulator to NASA-Ames Research Center. Larry was also an invaluable liaison to LCROSS's sister program, the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, from NASA's Goddard Flight Research Center.

LCROSS Mission Specifics:
Larry began working with NGAS's Howard Eller in the early conception "Request For Information" phase of the program, then supported all phases of the LCROSS proposal, including the final Orals Briefing to NASA Headquarters that secured LCROSS as the companion program to LRO (Larry was present at NASA Headquarters for the official LCROSS program award).
